If you love nothing more than kicking and chasing a football up and down a pitch then you’ll love the facilities we have at Cotlandswick Leisure Centre. Aside from the 42-station gym and great soft play area we have 8 separate five a side astro turf pitches and one 7 a side astro turf pitch. These facilities are perfect for football lovers of all ages and are available for block bookings, casual bookings, leagues and football themed birthday parties.
If Wimbledon is more your thing then we have plenty of tennis courts to keep you entertained!
Batchwood Golf Course and Sports Centre has new and improved tennis courts for all the Murray and Williams wannabes. The centre, which is located just outside St Albans offers 6 indoor courts, 3 large outdoor courts and 2 mini outdoor courts. The centre offers a fantastic programme of classes and sessions throughout the year, ideal for every one of all ages and abilities from beginners to advanced. Batchwood Golf and Sports Centre is a tennis lovers dream. Regardless of your age or ability everyone is welcome.
Tennis is also readily available at neighbouring Harpenden Sports Centre, offering a full programme of sessions and lessons. The centre offers Mini Tennis, designed to inspire children to play and stay in tennis. From here your little ones can progress through the age groups and categories from pre-school to intermediate infant all the way through to community competitions and high performance. There is also an extensive adult programme to suit all players. The centre specialises in getting beginners and rusty racquet players to feel comfortable to improve in a friendly coaching environment.
For sporting all-rounders who enjoy athletics and a range of sports will feel at home at Willesden Sports Centre. There’s a range of sporting options open to the community from volleyball and basketball to a Track Academy, which has been nationally recognised for producing a Youth Olympic Medallist and Junior international athletes, but for also providing quality mentoring that has changed the lives of many young people. There is a well-established and vibrant multi-sports club, which is open to all disabled people aged 11 + and siblings too. There is a triathlon club and Queens Park Harriers running and athletics club based at Willesden Sports Centre.
Athletes can also don their running spikes and head to Princess Royal Sports Arena, which has a fantastic outdoor running track. Set in the beautiful surrounds of Verulamium Park, Abbey View Golf and Track Facility provide a variety of different activities for all the community.
It also has a six lane 400m Athletics track which is open all year round and is the proud home to the St Albans Athletics Club. Outdoor Pitch

Golfers can enjoy the 9-hole golf course at Abbey View Golf and Track and is regarded as a fine 9-hole course. In neighbouring Batchwood, golfers can enjoy 18 holes at Batchwood Golf and Sports Centre. The golf course is one of the best municipal courses in the home counties. Its excellent layout challenges golfers of all abilities. A warm welcome is extended to everyone from the fair-weather golfer to regular visitor and golf societies alike.
In Milton Keynes golfers can enjoy another superb 18-hole course was designed by Sir Henry Cotton (winner of the Open Golf Championship in 1934) at Windmill Hill Golf club. The course is flat with spectacular tree lined fairways and is one of the best courses in the Buckinghamshire area with fantastic views and great prices.
In addition to the 18 wonderful and picturesque holes, Windmill Hill Golf Centre has a 23-bay covered floodlit driving range with and an external grass area (not floodlit), as well as practice greens and chipping areas accessible to all.
If you want to cool down, we have some great outdoor pools to choose from. Harpenden has a great outdoor pool. Toddlers can head over to the Splash Park in St Albans during the summer months to cool down. There’s a brilliant atmosphere and a fantastic local attraction and being surrounded by the beauty of the park is a lovely experience. There is also a crazy golf course just a short walk from the Splash Park making it a fun day out for all the family. The Splash Park is made up of approximately 12 high and low water features inserted into the surface and surrounded by a perimeter fence.
Many 1Life centres will offer outdoor fitness and bootcamp classes, especially during the summer months. BeaverFit outdoor Fast Class at the Meadhurst club is a great example of this. It’s an outdoor boot camp based around BeaverFit equipment, combining conditioning, toning and endurance.
