As ‘Freedom Day’ is fast approaching we’re looking forward to starting the final phase of reopening across all 1Life centres from Monday 19th July. We appreciate for some this return to normal life is welcome news, while others may feel a bit more apprehensive about the planned relaxation of restrictions.
Rest assured that we will be following Government and Sport England guidance as we start to increase the number of spaces and sessions available in our facilities. The health and safety of our members remains our priority, so we won’t be relaxing all of our protocols just yet. Vigorous cleaning of facilities and equipment will remain in place and the hand sanitiser stations are staying put and will be required before using equipment. We’ll also be encouraging the use of face masks in corridors and walk-ways for added safety, as well as social distancing whenever possible.
We’d like to remind members to remain considerate towards others using the facilities and adhere to these protocols so everyone can continue to exercise safely. Anyone experiencing Covid symptoms should avoid using the gym and get a PCR test.
Here’s a round-up of how different 1Life activities and services will be affected by the final change in guidelines.
The current gym equipment layout will remain for now to give adequate space for users to still exercise safely. Only when it’s deemed safe to do so will we add additional equipment back onto the gym floor. Gym usage tends to be slightly lower over the summer months so we’re confident this amount of equipment will continue to work well for gym users. We’ll also continue to review this if usage or guidelines change.
We’re still encouraging gym users to clean equipment before and after use and sanitise at regular intervals during their workout.
We’re looking forward to increasing the number of spaces available in our classes. The increase in capacity will vary by class and location, which is currently under review. Where possible, we’ll continue to use larger areas such as sports halls and outdoor spaces which offer better ventilation.
You’ll still be able to access our popular virtual classes which provide a great alternative to instructor-led classes in the comfort of your own home.
You’ll be pleased to hear that extra swim school spaces will be available from 19th July in line with the new guidance.
Our swim school is incredibly popular so we expect these extra spaces will fill fast. For further information or to enrol your child please contact your local 1Life centre.
Casual / Family Swimming
If you’re interested in coming for a swim this summer you can book sessions online or through the app. We will be increasing the numbers allowed in each session as well as in the family swim from the 19th July.
Booking restrictions will be removed for indoor sports that previously only allowed same households or bubbles to play together. Other facilities will also start to open up in line with Government guidelines. Our cafés and creches will have a phased reopening over the next couple of months and we’re hoping to have more information on this soon.
We’re delighted to be moving in the right direction towards fully reopening and feel our approach gives everyone the chance to continue to exercise is a safe environment. We’d also like to thank all of our fantastic members for their continued support.
