1Life is throwing open its doors to provide free activities for everyone as part of National Fitness Day 2018, Wednesday 26th September - the most active day of the year.
National Fitness Day was launched to celebrate everything that is great about movement, sport and physical activity. It's expected that more than five million people will slip on their trainers or dive into the pool in a bid to embrace and enjoy physical activity.
Mark Braithwaite, Managing Director of 1Life said: "National Fitness Day is the biggest and most visible annual celebration of physical activity of the year. It is a chance to highlight the role physical activity plays across the UK, helping us raise awareness of its importance in helping us lead healthier and active lifestyles, while championing the fun of fitness."
1Life has lots of activities happening locally for people of all ages and abilities. You can get involved online by joining in with our social media campaign, exploring what fitness means to you, with the hashtag #Fitness2Me across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. And to find out what's happening at your local 1Life centre simply head on over to its social media accounts for a full run down and overview of what's planned.
Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, Chair of National Fitness Day organiser ukactive said:
“National Fitness Day is a powerful tool to raise the profile of physical activity and the role it plays in increasing the health of our nation. By getting people across the country involved we can help provide the initial steps towards continued involvement in physical activity.”
